Amed Medina 01- “Walking In La Habana” (4:20) Guitarist, arranger, composer and producer; Amed studied at the “Escuela Nacional de Música” in Cuba, and ventured into different genres of music as one of the most important Cuban session guitarists. He has worked with groups such as Géminis, Zeus, Extraño Corazón, Tanya Rodriguez, A-19, Carlos Varela, Miguel de Oca, Pablo Milanés, Buena Fe and Charly García, just to name a few. He contributed to the award-winning album “La Rumba Soy Yo”, which won in 2001 the Latin Grammy in the folk music category. He has shared the stage with Maná, Bonnie Raitt, Paul Brady, Carole King and others. He has produced for various artists from Cuba and abroad. Currently living in Mexico, Amed has his own recording studio and produces artists from all over the world, including Cuba.
Contact Info: Ianier started to show interest in electronic music at the age of 12 and began developing his own music-related software. In the 80’s he used a personal computer to create special effects for the band Orion in Camagüey. He learned to play guitar in his teens, taught first by his elder brother Ionel, and later by Angelo Brito, a Cape Verdean fellow at the University of Las Villas. In the 90’s, together with the singer/bassist Manuel Boudet, he founded the rock band Géminis, where he performed lead guitar and backing vocals. Ianier currently lives in Luxembourg. His time stretching/pitch shifting software, Chronotron, has received rave reviews worldwide from both the specialized press and end users. Ianier's musical influences include La Nueva Trova, Queen, Yngwie Malmsteen, The Beatles and Phil Collins.
Contact Info: dagora(at)cubarte.cult.cu Dagoberto comes from the very heart of the band Gens, one of the flagships of Cuban rock. However, his versatility led him to explore many musical territories, going from pop-rock and hard rock to “novísima trova”. After his departure from Gens, he joined efforts with different trova singers, including Adrian Morales and Carlos Varela. With Varela his career reached new heights thanks to the powerful rocking sound of the albums “Monedas al aire” (1993) and “Como los peces” (1994). For a short time, he was part of the hard rock band Bolsa Negra. Later on, he created his own band Dago, and then Rocka de Almendra. He is a producer too, working with Cuban bands such as Extraño Corazón, Garage H, Burbles, Cosa Nostra and Rice and Beans, amongst others.
Ionel Muñoz 04- “Escape” (4:31) Contact Info: ionelmunoz(at)hotmail.com Founder of the power-thrash band Urania in the late 80’s, together with Hansel Arrocha (Zeus) and Raimet Salazar (Artevivo), Ionel was inspired to play guitar by Hansel himself and Ivan Vera (Zeus). Thanks to his aggressive, yet melodic playing style, he became a key member of the Camagüey-based band Vortex, led by bassist Raciel Ramirez, which achieved some local notoriety during the early 90’s. Between 2005 and 2008, Ionel publicly represented the band Montserrat and guested on their homonymous EP, released in 2007. Currently Ionel is the lead guitarist of the Canadian goth metal band Okkol Pixxan. His musical influences range from Brian May, Marty Friedman, Michael Schenker and George Lynch to Mercyful Fate, King Diamond and Annihilator.
Luis Ramirez founded the Cuban original Metal Band Zeus (1987) after his comeback from Germany. He as the front man/guitar player of that band wrote and arranged the majority of the repertory at that time. He also laid down the guitar tracks on Tanya’s Album “Acorralada”. In Chile his career as a musician lead in into playing different musical styles like bolero (Carmen Prieto’s Band) , Cuban son ( Monteadentro Band) and Alberto Plaza’s Band , touring all over Chile and different countries of South America but his passion for Rock & Roll never faded out forming the Metal Band Exile, winners of a Chilean Rock Festival. Back in Miami he did several world tours as a Tres player with artists like Celia Cruz and Albita Rodriguez. He is currently working with two originals Rock Bands, Barezoul (Battle of the Bands winners) and a Thrash / Death Metal Band called Mozusven with ex-members of Cuban Metal Bands: Venus and Metal Oscuro.
Jorge Marín 05- “Guitar Vicious” (4:23)
Graduated from the “Instituto de Superación Profesional Félix Varela” in Havana City, he has played in bands such as Combat Noise, Gens, Costa Norte, Doble Impacto, Charly Salgado, Fundichely, Krudenta, Francis del Rio, Window and Mowal. He has also worked as a session musician for the bands Cosa Nostra, El Complot, Rainfall, Storm Cloud, Popeye’s Golden Theory, Daoma, Ananda, Altair, Manigua and Francis del Rio. Jorge has equally produced countless recordings for many Cuban rock bands, including Darkness Fall, Combat Noise, Rice and Beans, Escape, Tenaz, Chlover, Popeye’s Golden Theory, The Chaos Nether Silence, Switch, Ancestor, Teufel, Qvalibre, Sociedad Havana Blues, Postmorten, Estigma DC, El Complot, Alianza and Leonardo Macurán.
Contact Info: Gastón started playing with a group of friends who dreamed to play in a rock and roll band, thus picking up the guitar as his chosen instrument. Later on, he took private classical guitar lessons with Marta Cuervo and completed his studies in music at the Felix Varela Conservatory. He has played in different bands, such as Celhlow, Delirium Tremens, Yadira Lopez & Expreso Inconexo, Warapo and Alberto Falla. Currently he lives in Madison, Wisconsin, and teaches classical and acoustic guitar at his own studio “G Studio”.
Hansel was born in Havana City. In 1985 his career as a guitarist starts when he joins the metal band Enigma. In 1988 he forms Urania, and later on, Takson. In 1992 he finally joins Zeus, the Cuban thrash leaders and one of the most respected Cuban metal bands, which whom he plays until this day.
Contact Info: Nilo graduated in classical guitar at the National Music College (ENA) in Havana, Cuba. When he moved back to his own town, Camagüey, he worked as a professional teacher in the local music conservatory for nine years. Then he decided to form his own band, Rhodas; thus pioneering the Cuban rock movement in the early 80’s. The band eventually reached national stardom with numerous tours and presentations, as well as several hits, such as “Dulce Amor”, “Llámame” and “Es Amor”. Nilo moved to Spain in the late 90’s and at present he is performing as a solo artist in the tourist areas of Costa del Sol, playing his own songs, as well as the great classics of rock guitar. In 2009 he performed as a guest musician at the legendary Beatles stage in The Cavern Club, in Liverpool, England.
Contact Info: Reidal Roncourt is a guitarist and composer who made a name for himself in the Cuban Metal scene as the founder of Teufel, a Swedish-school-inspired melodic death metal band which pioneered in Cuba the blending of female vocals and electronic music with metal. Also member of the outstanding Combat Noise during the period of the album "After the War, the Wrath Continues", Reidal currently plays with the classic rockers Open Mind, while working on other projects, such as Arena (New Age), Reidal Trance (electronic), Ghostroom (doom), Storm Cloud (gothic-doom) and Frostmourne (black metal), with whom he has released several independent recordings. He currently lives in Louisville, Kentucky, USA.
Mariano is an experienced instrumental musician, composer and producer. He was a founder member of the Camagüey-based progressive rock band Monserrat, which marks a milestone in Cuban rock’s heritage. Gari’s life in Cuba equally involved teaching at the Camagüey Music Institute, as well as frequent participations in jazz festivals with well-known artists such as Arturo Sandoval, Pucho Lopez and Grabiel Hernandez, just to name a few. Garí travelled to Colombia and performed for five years as the guitarist for the exclusive group Son y Luna, at Gato Negro Club in Bogota. He was also the lead guitarist for Amparo Sandino’s album “Punto de Partida”. Garí moved to the United States several years ago, where he has made numerous live performances and television appearances. He recorded in 2007 a fusion solo album titled "My Rebirth", which showcases his abilities as a songwriter, musical arranger and guitarist.
Juan Paz 11- “La Luz De Tu Rostro” (4:23)
Juan Enriquez Paz Viera was born in Placetas, Villa Cara. He defines himself as “a self-taught guitarist who later took basic lessons on music theory and reading”. Currently he is a well-known songwriter and producer in the Cuban underground rock scene. He home-records the varied works of many local artists, besides being the mastermind of the emerging metal bands Vortice (1994-1996, releasing 2 demos) and GraceTouch (2000-present, releasing 3 demos). Willing to push the edge beyond conventionalisms and exploring different trends, Juan has also performed in bands such as Necrófago, Azotobacter, 7th Day, Scythe and the legendary Korpus. As a producer he has lately recorded and mixed the debut demo of Cry Out For. Holding a PhD on Medical Image Processing, he currently works as Physicist at UCLV.
vic4tobate(at)hotmail.com www.myspace.com/conexotrio Academically trained guitarist, Victor Navarrete became known to the public in the early 90's as a member of the band Strip Tease, built around the figure of the singer Michel Peraza. Victor's powerful riffs and unique guitar style, highly influenced by Jimi Hendrix, grabbed the attention of both the fans and the specialized press. This eventually landed him a gig with the progressive rock masters Síntesis, which whom he toured extensively in the late 90's. Victor also played guitar as a guest in all tracks of the album "Invisible Bridge", from Cosa Nostra, which is considered one of the best albums in the history of Cuban rock. Currently based in Madrid, Spain, Victor has composed music for theater as well as played with various outstanding musicians, such as the Cuban-born Alain Perez and the Basque Fermin Muguruza. At his very moment, Victor is part of the power trio Conexo Trío, which whom he continues to push the envelopes of latin jazz, fusion and hard rock.

He moved to Havana City when he was 16 years old and quickly became interested in Trova and pop-rock music. He began playing guitar for a local pop-rock group, but it didn’t take long before he founded his own band Anomaly, with whom he used to perform his original guitar-oriented compositions in the line of rock and progressive metal. Lesther has produced two CD’s; the first, simply titled “Anomaly”, was nominated to the prize “Cuerda Viva”.
almaralesmusic(at)gmail.com www.myspace.com/almaralesguitar Graduated from the art school "Olga Alonso" in Santa Clara, Jorge Almarales quickly made a name for himself in the 80's with the mythical Alto Mando, and later on with Vértigo –metal bands influenced by Alcatrazz, Kansas and Megadeth. In 1990 he moves to Havana, joining the art rock group Artevivo. In 1995 he became a member of the ethno-rock and progressive masters Síntesis, which whom he recorded the album "En los límites del barrio" (1995) and toured extensively, including playing the famous Montreux Festival, the Pori Jazz Festival (Finland) and the Niza Jazz Festival –just to name a few. Almarales lives now in the United States. He has been playing and recording with the reformed Artevivo, as well as with other artists, such as Corner 3, Cubiche, Haka and El Clan de Olofi. Currently he is rehearsing with Tanya and also working on a solo album, tentatively titled "Day by Day".
